The Index in each volume his helpful for looking up topics that might relate to the project.

  • Peter C. Mancall, Valley of Opportunity: Economic Culture along the Upper Susquehanna, 1700-1800. A really helpful book on the details of the development of our area of study by Euroamericans, providing background on the Priestley presence, the Pantisocracy vision, and French Azilum.

  • Joe Jackson, A World on Fire: A Heretic, an Aristocrat and the Race to Discover Oxygen. (Checked out of Bucknell library, does someone have it?)

  • Thomas Cooper, Some Information Respecting America. Organized as several letters to a friend. Google Books has for free

  • Jean Rousseau, Reveries of the Solitary Walker. He popularized the idea of finding peace in nature and solitude

  • John DeCrvecoeur. Letters from an American Farmer. He romanticizes the Susquehanna.
